Volunteer / Trustee Opportunities at VAEF

VOLUNTARY ACTION EPPING FOREST ARE LOOKING FOR NEW TRUSTEES

Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) is looking to recruit to its Board of Trustees.  Founded in 1993, the charity offers a wide range of projects to support both voluntary organisations within the district and residents and would welcome experience from those with a business or marketing background.

Trustees play an important role in supporting and advising the VAEF staff in their work and bring their own knowledge and experience to the organisation at Board level.  Jacqui Foile, Chief Officer at VAEF, says, “Trustees are essential to VAEF in helping us achieve the very best outcomes for people and organisations in Epping Forest.  A new Trustee would very quickly become part of our organisation and would support local delivery in areas of work that are valuable – and in many cases life changing for those that we come into contact with”.

Current services at VAEF include numerous projects to support both voluntary organisations within our district and residents. Our projects include day opportunities such as gardening, cooking, upcycling, sport, singing and art for people with learning disabilities, weekly clubs in North Weald, Loughton and Waltham Abbey and outings including lunches and trips to garden centres for older people. VAEF also provides a Handyman services to assist with odd jobs around the home, Benefits guidance support offered to people in their own home or at one of the local Foodbank Hubs.  The charity also recruits volunteers for local charities and provides digital support at the Epping Hub on a weekly basis and a Men’s Shed held weekly at the Waltham Abbey Museum. Our organisation is focused on providing essential charitable services for those most isolated, lonely or disadvantaged, as well as assisting other charities that also provide essential help.

The charity would particularly welcome expertise from those involved in fundraising, marketing or business who can bring their knowledge to VAEF and help support our work. Knowledge of local businesses and understanding how to gain their support would also be invaluable.

Becoming a Trustee volunteer for VAEF does not require any previous Board experience, but commitment is essential.  In addition to contributing to the organisation’s important work, it can also help an individual’s own career development.

Voluntary Action Epping Forest would love to hear from anyone interested in pursuing this worthwhile opportunity.  In the first instance please email Jacqui Foile, Chief Officer at VAEF on jfoile@vaef.org.uk.
